What the Fed's Recent Meeting Means for You
The Federal Reserve's mid-September meeting had a lot of buyers and sellers wondering: is now the time to make a move? Here's the short version — the Fed doesn't set mortgage rates directly, and a lot of the market's reaction actually happens in the days before the announcement, not after it. What tends to matter more for our local market is the fundamentals: steady job growth, population growth, and consistent demand here in Central Texas, none of which change because of a single Fed meeting.
If you've been waiting for "the perfect rate" before buying or listing, it might be worth having a conversation about what rate movement actually means for your specific numbers, rather than waiting on a headline.
Cottonwood Creek Brewery Expanding to Round Rock
Hutto-based Cottonwood Creek Brewery & Smokehouse is opening a brand-new taproom in Round Rock, expected to open this November or December at 1201 E. Palm Valley Blvd. The new location will brew its own beer alongside favorites from the original Hutto spot, with a food truck joining in spring. Locally owned businesses expanding into new markets like this are often a great sign of a neighborhood's growing appeal — one more reason Round Rock continues to be a smart place to plant roots.
Cedar Park Invests $4.8M in New Art Collective
Cedar Park City Council approved a $4.8 million design contract for a brand-new, city-owned art collective, set to include a 500-seat theater, a gallery, and community gathering spaces near the Bell District. The design phase is expected to take about 18 months, funded through local sales tax revenue via the Cedar Park Community Development Type B Board. Cultural investments like this are exactly the kind of long-term community value that makes a city more than just a place to live — it becomes a place to belong.
Rose & Dagger Coffee Co. Opens in Georgetown
A local love story worth celebrating: Rose & Dagger Coffee Co. just opened its first brick-and-mortar shop in Georgetown, inside a historic yellow house at 1005 S. Rock St. Owners Madison and Jackson Vacek went from running a coffee truck in the backyard of this very house to leasing the whole property — full circle in the best way. Out back, "The Grounds" offers a shaded hangout space with rotating local food trucks. If you haven't stopped by yet, it's worth the trip.
